How it started
- Maya Write is the youngest girl of sixteen children, she began writing at the age of ten to take control of her own narrative even if it wasn’t yet spoken aloud
- In middle school Maya Write began writing diss raps when met with confrontation in lieu of physical altercations
- Out of high school she began attending open mics to express herself beyond eighth grade courtyard squabbles
- In 2019 she accidentally won her first slam, thinking she was attending a regular open mic she sign up and to her surprise she was called back to the stage an additional two times and was crowned the champ
- 2020 when the world shut down she took to the internet to make connections with other spoken word artist across the world
